Charleston man is missing since October 7, CCSO seeks public help in locating him

Charleston, South Carolina – A local man has been reported missing after failing to complete a scheduled three-day hike, sparking an extensive search coordinated by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

David Christopher Hendricks, 26, was last seen being dropped off at the intersection of Highway 17 and Steed Creek Road on October 7, prepared for his journey on the Palmetto Trail-Swamp Fox Passage. Hendricks had arranged to be picked up at Lake Moultrie after his trek, but concern arose when he failed to appear at the designated location.

Amber Allen, a spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, highlighted the urgency of the situation. It was revealed that Hendrick had a history of medical conditions, which rises concerns about his health and well-being.

Described as 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighing 170 pounds, Hendricks has brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing an olive green long-sleeve shirt, khaki cargo pants, and white Nike shoes, providing a detailed description for individuals who might come across him in the area.

The sheriff’s office, along with several local search and rescue teams, have been combing the Palmetto Trail-Swamp Fox Passage, focusing on challenging terrains and areas where someone could seek shelter. They are also requesting assistance from hikers who were on the trail around the same period and might have noticed Hendricks.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information regarding Hendricks’ whereabouts to come forward. “Even the smallest detail could be crucial in aiding our search efforts,” added Allen.

Individuals with any information are encouraged to contact the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office immediately to assist with the ongoing search efforts.
