Crash and fuel spill close part of I-526 east and west, report

Charleston, South Carolina – Part of I-526 east and west are closed as a result of crash and fuel spill, authorities reported.

According to them, the crash happened between a vehicle and 19-wheeler. I-526 W is closed from Leeds Ave. to Savannah Highway and I-526 E is closed from Savannah Highway to Glenn McConnell.

Just after 5:30, officials closed all lanes and EMS crews, Charleston Fire Department and Police Department crews are all on scene.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

The 18-wheeler is leaking gasoline at the time and officials ask motorists to avoid the area as they work to clear the area.

UPDATE: I-526 WB is now open to the Glenn McConnell exit. But, I-526 EB still remains closed from Sam Rittenberg to Highway 17.
