Following the dog, puppies theft from Johns Island home, Charleston Animal Society is offering $5,000 reward for any valuable information

Charleston, South Carolina – The incident happened on February 17th when two people impersonated armed animal control officers and took the dog and the puppies from a home in Johns Island.

Both of the people displayed credentials, while one of them had a holstered handgun.

Following the incident, Charleston Animal Society now offers $5,000 reward for any information leading to the suspects.

According to the police reports, one of the suspects was white female in her 28-35 with a blonde hair. The other suspect was a heavy build white male, 5’11”-6’ tall with light brown or gray hair.

The dog and the puppies are shown on the picture.

“We just don’t know if this is an isolated incident or if this is happening on a regular basis. We hope the $5,000 reward will flush out others who have been victimized with this kind of scheme and bring decent folks forward who may know something and perhaps, folks who are involved but are unaware of the serious consequences of being involved in this felony crime,” said Charleston Animal Society President and CEO Joe Elmore, CAWA, CFRE. “Is this malicious theft for profit or vigilantism? Both of which are horrible for the victims and the community.”

The public is asked to call the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 843-743-7200 if they have information leading to the suspects.
