Four crashes, multiple injuries recorder during the holiday weekend, Burton Fire District report

Burton, S. C. – Burton Fire crews had to respond to four crashes where multiple people were injured during the holiday weekend.

The first crash was reported on Friday at the intersection of Laurel Bay Road and Bay Pines Road and Fire crews responded just 1:30 p.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found two people suffering minor injuries. As a result of the crash, fire crews had to close down Laurel Bay Road for around an hour while emergency crews assisted the injured and removed roadway hazards.

Another crash took place the same day around 9 p.m. According to reports, fire crews and EMS responded at the intersection of Parker Drive and Bay Pines Road.

The condition of the people involved in the crash was not revealed.

The third weekend crash happened on Saturday night around 11 p.m. According to reports, fire crews and EMS responded at the intersection of Broad River Boulevard and Jennings Road.

This was a single-vehicle crash and when first responders arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle in the tree line with heavy damage.

Fire crews extracted the passengers from the vehicle and three of them were transferred to hospital for treatment. One of them was a child.

The fourth holiday weekend crash was reported on Sunday morning just after 7 a.m. According to the report, fire department crews and EMS responded on Broad River Boulevard.

This was another single-vehicle accident. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle off the road lying on its roof. Firefighters removed the driver who was trapped in his vehicle. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Burton Fire District says they have responded to 118 motor vehicle collisions in 2021, which is an 11% increase from 2020. In 2020, they say 48% of the vehicle collisions resulted in injuries.
