Hartsville ex-athlete who was found shot in a motel, accused in robberies across 3 states

Hartsville, South Carolina – The ex-athlete and former Coker University student who was found shot in a motel last Friday is accused in robberies across 3 states including South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

Donovan McMillan, 25-year-old of Hartsville and Chauntress Evelyn Like, 21-year-old of Ohio, were the victims in the Friday’s shooting that took place in Florence motel.

Both of them were responsible for 3 separate robberies of which one occurred last year while the second and the third this year.

Officers attempted to serve multiple felony warrants on March 19, but two shots were heard just after officers knocked on the door.

The SWAT team was dispatched to the scene after several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with the suspects.

When SWAT entered the door, they only found the dead bodies inside.

Like was a member of the Coker University Cross Country team from 2018-19, according to Coker University Vice President for Strategic Marketing and Communications Patrick Riccards.

Riccards said Like competed in nine meets during the 2018-19 season and recorded three top-ww finishes. He said she was also named to the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

The investigation is ongoing.
