Little boy takes unsecured gun and shoots both mother and father, injuring himself

Unsecured guns are real threat for everyone especially if there are children in the house/apartment. The latest incident last week took place in Maine when a 2-year-old took a gun and shot his mother and father then injuring himself.

According to police reports, the accident occurred last Wednesday when the boy took the gun standing on a night stand. The boy fired only one shot, but all three of them were injured.

The identities were not released, but police said they all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and their health condition is stable. The mother was shot in the leg, while the father suffered minor head injury. The boy was also injured as a result of the shooting.

“How the boy was able to pick up and fire the weapon is of great concern and is being investigated,” Sheriff Joel Merry said.

Another 3-week-old baby was home at the time of the incident, but was luckily sleeping in the other room.

Sheriff Joel Merry said that the police called this situation ‘disturbing’ and they are happy with the income as this could have been much worse.

The police reported the weapon as a handgun. The father and the mother, 25 and 22-year-old respectively, will not face any charged connected to the incident.
