Monster mother arrested for forcing adopted 6-year-old daughter into more than 470 unnecessary treatments and surgeries

Monster mother from Washington was arrested and now faces multiple charges after being accused for forcing her 6-year-old adopted daughter into more than 470 unnecessary surgeries and treatments authorities say.

The mother, later identified by police as 31-year-old S. Hartman, is facing multiple charges including assault of a child and attempted assault of a child and domestic violence. According to police reports, the little girl underwent a total of 473 unnecessary medical treatment and surgeries starting from 2016 to 2021.

The charging document says that some of the medical treatments are placing a feeding tube directly into her stomach, a hormonal implant, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) to flush her intestines among many others.

“It is not necessary to know the possible motivation of a caregiver, only the outcome of the behavior,” Dr. Rebecca Wiester, director of the Seattle Children’s Hospital, wrote in a Feb. 19 letter that prompted an investigation by the Department of Children and Youth.

The letter by Dr. Wiester was also signed by numerous other doctors and was part of the charging document from the prosecuting office.

Hartman is well known to the local community after her interview with a local television in 2017. The mother, who is white, adopted two black children from Zambia and she was talking about the health issues one of her daughter has in that interview. But both daughters were finally taken from her in March this year.

In the court documents is also stated that police arrested her after they discovered her iPhone and iPad search history that included “cochlear implants Black child,” “how to get paid to take care of member of family with disability,” “making a pretend model of hearing aid,” and “funeral songs.”

Her daughter was admitted in a local children hospital for 16 days in February. Doctors conducted numerous examinations and they discovered the child was completely healthy and none of those treatments during the years were logical.

Hartman will be contesting the charges in court, according to a document released by her lawyers and reported by local news outlets.
