New record with over 2,700 new COVID-19 cases in South Carolina

South Carolina – For the second straight day, South Carolina broke their one-day total with over 2,700 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

Yesterday, DHEC reported 2,470 new cases of COVID-19, which set the new one-day high total and was the first time since July 18 that the state went over 2,000 new cases in one day.

On Saturday, South Carolina topped itself with 2,715 new cases, also adding 92 probable cases, 19 new confirmed deaths and 2 probable deaths

This brings the state total to 213,795 confirmed cases, 15,440 probable cases, 4,194 confirmed deaths and 323 probable deaths.

South Carolina also posted over 20 percent for the third straight day at 20.8 percent, after 13,073 new individual test results were reported statewide, not including antibody tests.

Charleston County had the fourth-most new cases on Saturday, posting 168 new cases. Greenville was far ahead of the state with 441 new cases, followed by Richland County with 215 new cases, and Spartanburg with 182 new cases.
