North Charleston, S. C. – Suspect who tried to flee North Charleston police in stolen vehicle was arrested, authorities confirmed.
According to the incident report, the suspect identified as Howard McNair was pulled over just before 2 a.m. on November 17 in North Charleston.
Police confirmed that the suspect was driving stolen vehicle when they conducted the traffic stop.
McNair complied with orders to exit the vehicle, before reentering it and driving away. During the chase, he allegedly slammed on the brakes several times to get officers to strike his car. He also made several attempts to strike police vehicles, officers said.
Officers who chased the vehicle were able to deflate one of the tires with a special police equipment.
He fled the scene before stopping, at which time officers arrested him following a struggle.
The suspect is now facing several charges including 3rd and 2nd degree assault, grand larceny and failure to stop for blue lights.
