Over 2.3 million have signed the petitions asking monthly stimulus checks of $2,000 until the end of the pandemic

A total of six petitions can be found online and already more than 2.3 million people have signed the largest one, demanding the Congress to deliver monthly stimulus checks of at least $2,000 until the end of pandemic.

Over the last week, the number of people who signed the petition has surpassed 100,000. The largest petition demanding the Congress monthly stimulus checks can be found on Change.org.

According to this petition hosted by Stephanie Bonin, a Denver restaurant owner, people are asking the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate to pass the legislative that will provide “$2,000 payments for adults and $1,000 payments for kids” until the pandemic ends.

The requests in the petition have changed a couple of time in the last few months, but all of the people that signed the petition agree that the last $1,400 stimulus check is simply not enough to cover their expenses.

“People are just too far behind,” one update read. “Like we’ve been saying from the beginning of this pandemic, people need to know when the next check is coming. And the best thing our government can do right now is send emergency money to the people on a monthly basis.”

The petition has a goal of 3 million signatures. If the petition reaches its target, it will become on of the most signed petition on the platform.

In the past 3 month, 5 smaller petitions can be found online demanding monthly stimulus checks. Their number varies from 75,000 – 20,000 supporters.

About 21 Senate Democrats have also joined the effort with their own letter to Biden on March 30.
