Pregnant woman jumps from second-floor window allegedly escaping her abusive boyfriend who held her like a prisoner for seven days. Matthew A. from Massachusetts, got furious when his girlfriend told him she was pregnant.
Following the incident, Matthew was arrested and charged with assault to murder, aggravated assault & battery, strangulation, assault & battery on an intimate partner and kidnapping.
The police received a 911 call for a ‘female outside screaming for help’. Officers responded to the scene withing minutes, but everything was quiet. Then they learned from the neighbors Matthew forcibly dragged unknown woman into his apartment.
“Officers located a female victim and her boyfriend inside the residence,” the police statement says. “Officers immediately began rendering aid to the victim who was unresponsive, lying motionless on the bed. She had agonal breathing and red marks on her throat.”
“Detectives learned that the victim’s boyfriend had held her against her will for the last week,” the statement alleges. “Fearing for her safety, she jumped from a second-story window to escape.”
According to the police, the man got furious and angry when his girlfriend told him she is pregnant. When Matthew heard the news, he became paranoid and told the woman she can’t leave his apartment and to get rid of the unborn baby.
The woman was held in the apartment for seven days. One day she locked her in the toilet and jumped out of the second-floor window screaming for help.
The identity of the woman was not revealed.
Matthew’s attorney has not returned a call for comment.
