Burton, South Carolina – Saturday afternoon house fire in Burton damaged a mobile home, Burton Fire District confirmed.
According to the incident report, the home fire broke out on Wildcat Lane around 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Crews with the Burton Fire District responded at the scene and managed to put the fire under control in a matter of minutes.
Firefighters confirmed that one bedroom was in flames when they entered the doublewide mobile home. They managed to extinguish the fire shortly after. Fortunately, the fire only damaged the bedroom and no other parts of the home were caught by the flames.
The residents escaped the home on time right after they saw the fire and none of them was injured.
“The resident saw the fire in the bedroom, quickly closed the door and evacuated the family,” Burton Fire Lieutenant Ethan Webb says. “The closed-door confined the smoke and fire to the bedroom, leaving the rest of the home untouched.”
There is ongoing investigation that should reveal the cause of the fire. However, fire officials believe the fire was unintentional.
Since only the bedroom was damaged, the family decided to stay at the home.
