Slight drop in Covid-19 positivity rate on Thursday as South Carolina added almost 15,000 new positive cases

Charleston, South Carolina – South Carolina added almost 15,000 new Covid-19 positive cases on Thursday, but a slight drop in the positivity rate was finally recorded.

According to the daily report provided by DHEC, South Carolina added a total of 14,764 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday.

DHEC said that 10,412 cases are considered as confirmed, while 4,352 are considered as probable cases.

The data shown in the Thursday’s report is from tests taken on Tuesday.

According to the same report, South Carolina added a total of 42 Covid-19 related deaths. Fourteen deaths are considered as confirmed, while 18 are considered as probable.

Since the start of the pandemic, South Carolina reported a total of 1,132,825 Covid-19 cases, 891,412 confirmed and 241,413 considered as probable.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths now reaches 14,880. The total number of confirmed deaths is 12,874, while 2,033 are considered as probable.

The positivity rate was listed at 26.9%, down from Wednesday’s 28.8%, and Tuesday’s 34.9%.
