Slight jump in new Covid-19 cases in South Carolina, almost 900 new cases reported by DHEC

Charleston, South Carolina – A slight jump in Covid-19 cases is recorded across South Carolina according to the latest DHEC report issued on Wednesday.

According to the report, a total of 866 new Covid-19 cases were added from the last batch of tests taken two days ago, on Monday.

526 cases were confirmed through PCR tests, while 340 were detected through rapid tests.

Additionally, 17 new Covid-19 related deaths were added to the statistics. Four deaths were listed as probable, while 13 are considered confirmed.

The results came from 13,726 tests with a positive rate of 5.4%.

Since the start of the pandemic last year, South Carolina reported a total of 926,454 COVID-19 cases, consisting of 740,337 cases detected using PCR tests and 186,117 detected with rapid tests.

The number of total Covid-19 related deaths reached 14,334. That total includes 12,399 deaths classified as “confirmed” and an additional 1,935 classified as “probable.”
