Smoking to be banned on the beach, Folly Beach City Council passes first reading

Folly Beach, S. C. – Smoking to be banned on the beach, The Folly Beach City Council passed the first reading. Smoking should be banned on the beach and its access points.

The voting barely passed because 3 people voted against and 4 voted yes.

According to the agenda, all types of cigarettes (pipe, cigar, e-cigarettes and similar products) will be prohibited on the beach and access points.

The ban requires additional readings before it gets fully valid.

Punishments are as follow:

  • $25 – for first time violation
  • $50 – for second time violation in a year
  • $100 – for third time violation in a year
  • higher fines for next violations
