Summerville man arrested for tax returns fraud, preparing false papers

Charleston, South Carolina – Summerville man was arrested and charged for preparing false income tax papers.

According to reports, the tax preparer was identified as Earl Wayne Ravenell, 46-year-old of Summerville.

Ravenell is charged with 16 counts of willfully aiding and assisting in the preparation of false and fraudulent tax returns and one count of making and subscribing a false tax return.

The arrest came after the IRS completed their investigation about tens of cases prepared by Ravenell.

The man now faces $250,000 fine and up to 51 years in prison.

UPDATE: We have been contacted by Earl Wayne Ravenell claiming he has not been arrested and no official charges were pressed against him. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
