Charleston, South Carolina – A Target worker has been arrested for stealing thousands of dollars from the store.
According to a police report, officers were sent to the Target store in the West Ashley area in response to a report of theft.
The Target’s loss prevention officer notified the responding officers from the Charleston Police Department that they believed an employee stole a significant amount of money from the business.
After interviewing the suspected employee, 27-year-old Willie Neils, he confessed to authorities that he had stolen money from the store on multiple occasions beginning in September of 2021.
Neils’s confessions made during the interview were corroborated by the footage from the store’s surveillance camera provided to the police by the store’s loss prevention officer, where he is shown stealing a total of around $5,320 on April 4, April 29, May 5, and May 14.
According to the Charleston Police Department, Neils hid the money after stealing it and then left the store.
Neils was taken into custody and charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent.
