Teenager killed, four others injured in Sunday’s night single-vehicle crash in Dorchester County, police

Dorchester County, South Carolina – One teenager was killed, while several other passengers were injured and transferred to hospital for treatment following the Sunday’s night single-vehicle crash that took place in Dorchester County, the local law enforcement confirmed.

According to the incident report, a 2007 Chevrolet SUV was traveling east on I-26 when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and trees, and overturned. Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene and confirmed that the crash took place on I-26 eastbound near mile marker 182 at around 8 p.m. Sunday.

The victim in the crash, whose identity was not immediately revealed by the authorities, was later identified as 14-year-old Jocelyn Beltran from Goose Creek. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The incident report indicates that the teenager was a passenger in the car. Additionally, four other people, the driver and three other passengers, were injured in the crash and transferred to the hospital for further treatment. The responding troopers didn’t say a word about the extent of their injuries.

The investigation into the incident, conducted by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, is ongoing as more details are expected this week.
