The Covid-19 numbers in South Carolina remain stable, but slight increase in cases was recorded in the Friday’s Covid-19 report

South Carolina – The situation with the Covid-19 remains stable in the Palmetto State, but slight increase in cases was recorded on Friday, according to DHEC daily report.

South Carolina added 1,785 new confirmed cases on Friday.

1,334 of those were detected through PCR tests, while 451 were detected through rapid tests.

The total number of cases on Friday is 55 higher compared to the Thursday’s number of cases.

According to the DHEC reporting policy, the numbers presented on Friday were the actual Wednesday’s results since DHEC reports daily cases with 2-day delay.

Additionally, a total of 74 deaths were reported as a result of the virus. 64 are confirmed deaths, while 10 are considered as probable.

Of those 74 deaths, nine were reported in Lowcountry counties. Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties each reported two confirmed deaths, while Georgetown County reported one confirmed and one probable and Beaufort County reported one probable.

The positivity rate is also down compared to Thursday for half a percentage now sitting at 8.0%.

Since the start of the pandemic, the total number of positive Covid-19 cases now reaches 874,013. The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic now reaches 12,929.

Out of the 12,929 Covid-19 related deaths, 11,205 are categorized as confirmed deaths, while 1,724 are considered as probable.

South Carolina has now performed more than 11.1 million tests since the pandemic began.
