Two vehicles and bicyclist involved in Anderson County crash, one person killed

Anderson County, South Carolina – Bicyclist and two vehicles were involved in the fatal crash in Anderson County on Saturday evening when one person was killed.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident took place Saturday evening around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 81 in Anderson County, near True Temper Road.

The crash happened while the bicyclist was riding his bike and tried to cross Highway 81 when a car hit him on his bicycle. Right after the initial hit, the victim was then hit again by another crossing vehicle.

The victim, identified as the 21-year-old Matthew Bagwell, suffered serious injuries and was in critical condition.

As soon as the EMS arrived at the scene, he was treated and taken to hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced dead.

At the time of the incident, the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The drivers of the other vehicles were unharmed.
