Vehicle went off the road and hit a tree in Colleton County early Saturday morning, one person dead

Colleton County, South Carolina – Single-vehicle crash in the early morning hours on Saturday in Colleton County was fatal for the driver, the South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed.

According to the early incident report, the crash happened on Secondary 45 near Dobbs Farm Lane just after midnight.

Master Trooper Brian Lee said that a Mercedes Benz traveling south on Secondary 45 for some reason went off the road and hit a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the first responders.

At this point, it remains unknown what led to the incident.

The identity of the driver was not immediately released by the authorities.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. Once more details are available, we will update the case.
