Young girl plays dead to survive while the shooter kills every member of the family just next to her

10-year-old girl survived a shooting in her home just because she played dead while the gunman shot her parents and her 6-year-old sister to death next to her. The brave girl facetimed her grandmother right after the incident who called police, but when they arrived the shooter was already gone.

Deputies responded at the scene shortly after they received the 911 call from the grandmother and they arrived at the family’s home just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30. When they arrived at the scene, they found the bodies of the parents and a 6-year-old girl who were pronounced dead.

The couple has four kids. The 1-year-old boy who was also in the house at the time of the shooting was uninjured probably because the shooter didn’t even know he was there. The 8-year-old brother of the little girl survived the shooting because he was out with his uncle at the time.

According to the police report, the girl was shot in the arm near the elbow, but suffered non-life-threatening injuries. That shot helped her to play dead and survive the fatal night. He was transferred to hospital for treatment after the incident and she was released the next day.

The girl was unable to describe or recognize the shooting suspect as he was wearing a mask when he entered their Texas house. The girl said he shot both of her parents and her little sister in the head while they were sitting on the couch next to her.

“She said, ‘Granny, someone came in and shot me, my mom, my dad, and my sister, and they dead,” the grandmother Angela E. said. “She was in the house for about 15 minutes with the bodies until we got here.'”

“This is a very, very tragic scene. We’re sending out prayers to the family,” Assistant Chief Patricia C. said. “This was a very difficult scene not only for us, the officers, but the family as well. So we’re sending out prayers and hopes that anybody has any information.”

There is undergoing investigation about the incident and investigators are actively reviewing the surveillance cameras in the area. Police don’t have a motive or potential suspect at the moment. However, they think this was not a home invasion as nothing was damaged or stolen during the incident. They believe the shooter knew the victims.

UPDATE: Police were able to find evidence and arrested the suspect identified as 28-year-old X. Davis. He was charged with three counts of capital murder. A judge denied his bond saying “he is risk to community safety.”
