Carta offers free shuttle from Mount Pleasant to Isle of Palms weekends, less parking issues for residents

Free shuttle service every weekend offered by Carta should solve parking difficulties in Isle of Palms officials say.

People that are facing parking issues every weekend should consider the free shuttle and avoid parking tickets. Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days in Isle of Palms.

“Just last weekend we got a parking ticket. We parked a little over the edge, I guess,” said Michelle Stratton, a mother of two.

Now they decided to use the free shuttle instead of their car and they say more people should use it.

“(The shuttle) was great. It was a better experience than when we moved here. We didn’t realize what the traffic and parking was like here. We brought all of the stuff for our kids and you know it was so easy taking the shuttle,” said Stratton.

According to Carta, the free shuttle service will operate every weekend until Labor Day. Rides start at 9:15 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Towne Center, and the last pickup at IOP is at 5:35 p.m.

The shuttle is completely free of charge.

According to officials, this has been on the top of their list for this year’s projects. The Mount Pleasant Towne Center is providing free parking before you hop on the shuttle.

Officials also advise riders that masks are mandatory on the bus.
