Charleston PD say no issues from dueling protests downtown

Charleston, South Carolina – On Saturday, a protest was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and despite counter protesters showing up, there were no issues, Charleston Police Department said.

The event was at East Bay and South Market street near the US Custom House in downtown Charleston, with a planned walk from that location to Broad and Meeting streets.

CPD officials were forced to call Public Safety Operations Center for help when the event grew with more people being involved.

However, no issues happened during the permitted event.
