Charleston, South Carolina – The City of Charleston’s Community Services Section is thrilled to announce a special block party to mark the 40th Anniversary of the MOJA Arts Festival. This family-friendly event is set for Wednesday, June 19th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the intersection of King & Ann Streets in downtown Charleston.
The celebration, named Juneteenth on King, will include outdoor dining, live music, dancing, and booths from local artisans and crafts vendors. A music stage will be set up near the Visitor’s Center garage on Ann Street, featuring performances by The Legacy of Motown Band and Deninufay African Drum and Dance.

Charlton Singleton, the Artistic Director of the MOJA Arts Festival, shared his excitement about the event, stating, “Our team has put in immense effort to organize what promises to be one of the most exciting festivals we’ve ever held. We look forward to everyone joining us at the Juneteenth on King Block Party on June 19th as we unveil major events planned for our landmark 40th anniversary!”

This event not only serves as a kick-off for the festival’s special anniversary season but also celebrates the rich heritage of African American and Caribbean arts. Details about the upcoming MOJA Arts Festival, which will take place from September 26 to October 6, 2024, in Charleston, SC, will be revealed the day before the block party, on June 18.
