Gas prices in South Carolina remain under the national average amid increasing prices, report

Gas prices continue to increase globally so is the trend in United States and drivers are paying more expensive gas every week.

According to the latest data, national average gas price spiked 13 cents over the past two weeks and average price per gallon is now $3.44.

Compared to last year the same period, Americans are now paying $1.22 per gallon more on average.

The industry experts claim the most recent increase in prices is result of the increased crude oil cost.

According to AAA Carolinas data, the average US gas price sits at $3.39 per gallon.

Even if we take their data into consideration, the average gas price in South Carolina remains under the national average sitting at $3.15 per gallon.

Palmetto State residents are still paying a lot more compared to last year. Last year’s data shows that the average gas price last year this period was $2.13 per gallon, which is $1.26 less compared to 2021.

Those living in the Charleston area are paying slightly more than the state’s average. The data shows that the average gas price in Charleston is $3.20 per gallon.

The highest gas price last week was seen in the San Francisco Bay Area, where gas station was selling a gallon for $4.65.

The lowest recorded gas price last week was seen in Houston, where a gas station was selling a gallon for $2.91.

The survey says the average price of diesel jumped 14 cents to $3.59 a gallon.
