Just more than 350 Covid-19 cases reported on Wednesday, DHEC reports 27 new deaths

The number of new Covid-19 cases in South Carolina is stable and lower compared to Tuesday, but the number of deaths has increased.

According to the DHEC report on Wednesday, Palmetto State added a total of 352 new Covid-19 cases, which is lower compared to the Tuesday’s 382 reported cases.

Wednesday’s total included 190 confirmed through PCR tests and another 162 detected through rapid tests.

The results in Wednesday’s report are from the tests conducted on Monday.

The total number of reported deaths on Wednesday is 28 and that is huge increase from Tuesday when only two deaths were reported.

19 deaths are considered as confirmed, while eight are considered as probable.

A total of six deaths were reported in Lowcountry counties; Charleston County reported two confirmed deaths and one probable. Berkeley County reported two confirmed deaths. Georgetown County reported one probable death.

The positivity rate among all tests conducted is 8%, which is increase from Tuesday’s positivity rate of 4.3%. A total of 5,089 tests were conducted.

Since the start of the pandemic, South Carolina added a total of 905,182 COVID-19 cases.

724,945 of the total number of cases were detected through PCR tests, while 180,237 were detected with rapid tests.

DHEC has reported a total of 13,923 COVID-19 related deaths. That total includes 12,039 deaths classified as “confirmed” and an additional 1,884 classified as “probable.”

Since the pandemic began, the state has administered more than 12 million COVID tests.
