Schools in Charleston are preparing for Covid-19 vaccination in children aged 5-11, vaccine clinics set at ten schools

Charleston, South Carolina – As soon as the Covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11 was approved by the FDA and CDC, local school districts started their preparations for the vaccination process in the Charleston County area.

According to the latest information by the Charleston County School District, schools are expected to be ready by the end of this month.

Officials with the CCSD say the vaccine clinics in the schools will make easier the vaccination process for both the parents and the children. This way, health experts believe the vaccination rate in children will improve in a shorter period of time.

As of now, ten afterschool clinics have been set up by the district to administer the two-shot Pfizer vaccine.

In order children to be eligible for vaccination, they will need signed permission and approval from their parent or legal guardian.

Setting the vaccine clinics across schools in the Charleston County area is a result of the partnership with the local medical organizations.

The full list of clinics being offered by the district can be found on their website.

Initially, only Charleston County School District students will be eligible to get the shot at the clinics, but this might change in near future.
