Summerville area hit by minor earthquake in the early morning hours on Monday

Summerville, South Carolina – Minor earthquake was registered in Dorchester County in the early morning hours on Monday, multiple sources reported.

According to the United States Geological Survey confirmation, the earthquake was detected less than a mile south of the Centerville community of Summerville with a magnitude of 0.9.

According to the same detailed report, it occurred 1.8 miles underground at 4:05 a.m.

Taking into consideration the magnitude and the depth of the earthquake, this kind of earthquakes can’t be felt in most of the cases. However, these earthquakes are easily recorded by a seismograph.

Last year, Palmetto State recorded a total of 27 earthquakes which is more compared to the state’s average of 20 earthquakes per year.
