Summerville man accused of stealing mail directly from mailboxes late last month was arrested and charged following month-long investigation, police

Summerville, South Carolina – The Summerville Police officials confirmed they arrested and charged the suspect wanted for stealing mail directly from mailboxes late last month in the Summerville area.

According to the local authorities, the suspect, whose identity was not immediately released for the public, was caught on video opening a resident’s mailbox and taking items on May 28.

The local authorities responded after the incident, but the suspect already had fled the scene. However, the surveillance cameras caught the suspect’s vehicle, a red pickup truck, which made it easier for the local authorities to identify him.

Following a month-long investigation, the suspect was arrested and charged with one charge of petit larceny.

He was transported to the Dorchester County Detention Center for a bond hearing.
