Gas prices continue the declining trend 4th week in a row, South Carolina drivers paying 12 cents less compared to a week before

South Carolina – Although gas remains very expensive, prices are declining for the 4th week in a row, both statewide and nationwide, which comes as a relief for drivers just ahead of the summer season’s peak.

Currently, South Carolina drivers are paying $4.14 per gallon on average, which is still $1.29 higher than one year ago, but 12.1 cents per gallon less compared to the week before and 44.7 cents less than a month ago.

Meanwhile, the national average gas price is $4.66 per gallon. Although the price is much more expensive than a year ago, currently $1.54 more per gallon, it’s 34.4 cents less than a month ago and 12.8 cents less on average than the week before. Gas prices continued the declining trend for four weeks in a row.

In Palmetto State, the most expensive gas on Monday morning was selling at $4.99 per gallon, while the cheapest gas was selling at $3.70. The difference between the most expensive and the cheapest selling price is $1.29 per gallon.

Per Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, the declining trend might continue in the upcoming weeks, but the trend could change any moment. If any unplanned disruptions occur, we could see new, record high gas prices in the month of August, De Haan added.
