City of Charleston offices to close for President’s Day, adjusted service schedules announced

Charleston, SC – In recognition of President’s Day, all City of Charleston offices will be closed on Monday, February 17. While city-run services will pause for the day, some essential operations will continue with adjusted schedules to minimize disruptions for residents.

Changes to trash and recycling collection

For those relying on city waste collection, expect a slight shift in service. The city will operate on a one-day delay throughout the week following the holiday. Monday’s collection will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, and so forth, with Thursday’s routes being completed on Friday.

However, for residents in certain areas, waste services will proceed without interruption. Trident Waste, which serves Johns Island and outer West Ashley, will follow its usual schedule. Similarly, Capital Waste, responsible for collection on Daniel Island and in Cainhoy, will not experience any delays.

Recreation facilities and city operations

While most recreation centers across Charleston will be closed in observance of the holiday, there is one exception—golf enthusiasts can still hit the links. The Municipal Golf Course will remain open on Monday, providing an opportunity for residents to enjoy the day on the green.

As a reminder, all other city offices will be closed, including administrative and public-facing departments. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, February 18.

Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly for any city-related services and take note of the adjusted collection schedules. For further updates, visit the City of Charleston’s official website or follow their social media channels.
