Development plans on Grafton Street, which leads to Ferry Wharf Road, are up for final review Wednesday by the Mount Pleasant Design Review Board.
Currently, the area is wide open grassy space looking right at the Cooper River and downtown Charleston.
According to the project that should be financed by the Bennett Hospitality, there will be 78-room hotel along Grafton Street separated in two three-story buildings on both sides of Grafton Street. The hotel rooms are planned to be on the second and third floor, while commercial and retail restaurant spaces to be located on the first floor.
There’s no confirmation yet on what stores and restaurants could be coming here. Right next to this space is the new Embassy Suites, which opened less than a year ago.
The company that should finance the project didn’t provide exact time frame when the construction will be completely finished.
