SCDOT received the last construction contract for Summerville Parkway

Summerville, South Carolina – According to reports, the South Carolina Department of Transportation has received its final construction contract for Berlin G. Myers Parkway in Summerville.

It’s been 18 years since the idea for this project was first developed. Officials are now preparing to construct the last 3.9 miles of the road.

This last phase will see the construction of a new four-lane highway that will relieve some of the traffic congestion on Main Street, Highway 17-A, and Bacons Bridge Road.

Senator Lindsey Graham says he is pleased with the news of the final deal.

“Anybody who has been in Summerville lately knows they need relief when it comes to Main Street. The parkway extension will create a new artery for the people of Summerville and help relieve congestion on the roads. It is going to be a great addition to the community, and I was glad to be part of it,” said Graham.

There is currently no official information on when the last part of the project will be finished.
