Charleston, South Carolina – Since the start of the pandemic, the South Carolina American Red Cross is running low on blood units supply.
Supported by the ABC News 4 team, the Red Cross managed to collect 134 blood units in two donation events at Citadel Mall and Northwoods Mall.
This comes as a relief for the Lowcountry hospitals, at least on a short term, since they are struggling with blood units supply for almost a year now.
According to the Red Cross, the blood donation events surpassed the patient-need goal set by organizers for the drive.
The Red Cross is still in need of blood units and everyone who wants is welcome to donate blood.
