On Thursday, Biden announced his new plan in battling the Covid-19 across United States with mandating federal and healthcare workers to get the shot and also mandating employees in companies with over 100 workers to get the shot.
Last month was the worst for Biden since taking the White House office following a several events which resulted Biden approval rating to reach historical low. Biden once again used the Thursday’s press conference to attack the GOP governors who banned mask mandates in schools in some states claiming what they do is completely out of focus when it comes to battling the virus.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is surely one of them since he also banned the mask mandating in schools while the is seeing record high numbers in daily cases, hospitalizations and deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Several school districts decided to implement mask mandates in their schools without the approval of the state officials and filed a lawsuit against DeSantis. But DeSantis won this small war with them as the Florida appeals court rules in favor of DeSantis, allowing his ban on mask mandates in schools to stand.
But the small win against them is nothing compared to the fact that the court’s decision directly opposes Biden lately announced vaccine requirement. If other courts decide to follow Florida appeals court decision, that means that Biden’s requirement will literally mean nothing.
Florida court decision came on Friday, less than 24 hours after Biden’s press conference when he announced his plan for vaccine mandates. Lawyers for Gov. Ron DeSantis filed the emergency appeal after a judge ruled on Wednesday that the state must stop its enforcement of a mask ban.
The civil rights enforcement arm of the US Department of Education added to the issue Friday, saying it is opening an investigation into whether the Florida education department “may be preventing school districts in the state from considering or meeting the needs of students with disabilities” with the mask mandate ban.
Until recently, DeSantis was largely criticized about how he is handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Florida. But he was not bothered at all and started public war with president Biden almost on a daily basis. Recent polls showed that DeSantis rating decreased in mid-August and that might result with a loss if he decides to run for another gubernatorial or to run for president in 2024.
However, Ron DeSantis implemented the expensive antibody treatment for all Florida residents completely free of charge in the second part of August. It turned out that the treatment has amazing results which lowered the number of hospitalizations and deaths by the end of August and early September.
With his decision Florida to become the first state to offer this kind of treatment, Ron DeSantis might end up as the biggest winner recently in the war with Biden and other Democrats who used DeSantis as an example what a governor shouldn’t look like.
Meanwhile, several GOP governors and Attorney Generals are considering to file a lawsuit against Biden for overreaching his authorities with mandating private companies to enforce vaccine mandate for their workers.
What is even more interesting is the fact that Biden revealed his plan on Thursday without giving an exact timeframe when the vaccine mandates are going into force bringing concerns for both companies, unvaccinated folks and unvaccinated healthcare workers who are threatened they will lose their Medicare help if they don’t get the shot.
