Police arrest suspect for double homicide after weeks looking for him

Charleston, S. C. – Police arrest suspect accused for double homicide that happened back in December at a convenience store. According to the police, he was found and arrested Tuesday night.

Both Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service took an action in residence in North Charleston and arrested the 31-year-old James Jamar Toatley.

According to the police reports, the incident happened on December 19 inside the Motor City Markey on Fairfield Road. The suspect confronted two men and in attempt to diffuse the situation, both of them headed to their car where two others were waiting. James Jamar Toatley shot in the car and he killed one on the spot while the other man died a couple of hours later because of the injuries.

The suspect is charged with total of four counts and will be brought back to Richland County Wednesday.
