Early morning crash knocks out traffic lights and closes portion of Highway 61, crews working to repair the traffic lights

Charleston, South Carolina – Early Monday crash closed portions of Highway 61 near Carriage Lane, authorities say.

According to them, multiple traffic lights in the area were knocked out as a result of the crash.

Following the incident, part of Highway 61 was closed to give crews room to make repairs.

Charleston Police Department informed that the accident happened just before 4 a.m. Monday when a vehicle crashed into utility pole around Old Town Road and Ashley River Road causing outages.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and use alternative routes.

Those driving in the area are asked to exercise caution as police officer is currently directing the traffic.

There is ongoing investigation about the incident which should reveal the reason of the crash.

No injuries were reported.
