North Charleston, South Carolina – With local designer and premium cookware maker Smithey Ironware Company announcing an expansion of its activities with a $3.1 million investment, Charleston County is poised to see an increase in employment and economic activity. This growth is expected to provide 16 new employment, therefore supporting Smithey’s dedication to the area and the local community.
Originally opened in Charleston in 2015, Smithey Ironware has become well-known for its premium cast iron and carbon steel cookware—including Dutch ovens, roasters, and skillets—very fast. Celebrated for their workmanship and performance, the company’s products help to establish Charleston as a rising center for manufacturing and business activity.
New headquarters at 1061 Everglades Ave., North Charleston, will also be opened in part of the growth plan. This location not only fits the administrative teams of the business but also has a public showroom, thus strengthening Smithey’s brand recognition and consumer involvement. A new distribution warehouse at 2060 North Hobson Ave. has also been opened to accommodate growing fulfillment activities and handle higher production levels.
The new distribution site is famous for its custom engraving activities, which let consumers personalize their cookware with words, therefore augmenting the already distinctive products Smithey offers.
As the company develops the next great American cookware brand, Isaac Morton, the founder and President, expressed excitement about the expansion and said Smithey is eager to increase the brand presence via the new public showroom in Charleston County.
Smithey’s plan for investments and growth have been much welcomed by local leaders. Governor Henry McMaster noted the state’s prime business location.
“With our state’s ideal location and talented workforce, companies like Smithey Ironware Company are finding lasting success. We are grateful for the company’s continued investment in Charleston County and congratulate Smithey on this latest milestone,” SC Gov. Henry McMaster said.
Charleston County Council Chairman Herbert Ravenel Sass III highlighted the local impact, saying, “As a homegrown company in Charleston County, Smithey’s growth is shaping our community into a manufacturing powerhouse. We look forward to seeing Smithey continue to thrive and mold our region into a vibrant economic hub.”
North Charleston Mayor Reggie Burgess also commented on the expansion’s significance.

Their commitment to craftsmanship and innovation not only highlights the rich industrial tradition of our city but also enhances our local economy through meaningful investments and job creation. With the addition of these new facilities, Smithey is solidifying its presence as a key player in the national manufacturing landscape, and we are proud to support their expansion as they bring world-class, American-made products to new markets.
