Monday evening crash at Savannah Highway fatal for one pedestrian, all lanes were closed then reopened

Charleston, South Carolina – Crash at Savannah Highway Monday evening was fatal for one pedestrian and closed all lanes of the highway.

According to the police report, the incident happened around 7:50 p.m. on Monday and authorities started receiving multiple calls for the crash right away.

The crash happened in the 2000 block of Savannah Highway.

As a result of the crash, one pedestrian suffered heavy injuries and was transferred to hospital for treatment. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.

During the investigation, investigators closed all lanes between Skylark Drive and Orleans Road. for almost hour and a half. The northbound lanes were reopened around 9:30 p.m., while the southbound lanes were reopened around 11 p.m.

More details are expected to be released in the upcoming days. Investigation should reveal the cause of the crash.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released by the authorities.
