Supply blood units critically low, SC residents asked to donate blood

South Carolina – Blood units supply in South and North Carolina are critically low as demand has grown in the recent months The Blood Connection officials say.

The Blood Connection is an emergency blood supplier stationed both in South and North Carolina. According to them, the low supplies are result of high demand from hospital in recent months.

Unexpected traumas, unprecedented events and the COVID-19 pandemic have exacerbated the problems, they said.

The supplier said they were unable to cover all the hospital needs in at least half of days in May.

SC and NC residents are more than encouraged to donate blood as soon as possible.
