Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office are asking the community for help in identifying a suspect who attempted to kidnap a woman

Beaufort County, TX – Beaufort County are asking for public’s help in identifying and locating a suspect who attempted to kidnap a woman at a gas station on Thursday.

According to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place at the Callawassie General Store around 2 p.m. when a man approached the victim asking her to drive him to Ridgeland.

The woman reportedly refused to drive him to the wanted destination and that’s the moment when he threatened her saying that he has a gun and he will hurt her.

The victim was forced to drive the unidentified suspect to Ridgeland from the Callawassie General Store in Okatie.

“Fearing for her safety, the woman complied and drove the man to Cooler’s Grocery (gas station) off Highway 462 in Ridgeland,” deputies said. “Before he got out of the woman’s car and walked off, the man demanded $20 from her.”

Luckily, the woman was unharmed in the incident and she is completely safe.

The surveillance footage from the gas station clearly shows that the wanted suspect has been staying at the parking lot for quite some time prior to the incident.

“Investigators also learned that the man approached and engaged several people in the parking lot and may have asked them for a ride,” the sheriff’s office said.

The woman told the officers that she was never actually saw the gun.

Anyone who may have observed the man or knows his identity is asked to contact Cpl. William Weich at 843-255-3313 or Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111, if wishing to remain anonymous and for possible reward.
