Tired of being alone, mother throws her two little children from second floor window before jumping herself

24-year-old woman was arrested and now faces multiple charges after she threw her 2-year-old boy and her newborn daughter from a second-floor window in their home before she jumped herself. When she fell on the ground, she started hitting her children when a neighbor came to the rescue and took the children out of her reach.

The incident happened earlier this month in New York when the suspect D. Jarrell tried to kill her children before killing herself. Luckily, all three of them survived and were taken in hospital for treatment.

The 2-year-old boy suffered minor injuries according to the hospital report. The neighbor who saw the incident and helped the children after the fall, said that the little boy’s face was half bruised but he was conscious and able to stand on his feet. The 4-week-old girl is in critical condition treated in hospital after she suffered heavy injuries as a result of the fall. According to police report, eyewitnesses said the baby was barely breathing when she fell on the ground.

Further examinations showed that she had suffered multiple injuries including skull fracture, swelling of the brain and renal injuries.

According to police report, Jarrell tossed her naked kids from the fire escape then she jumped after them. When she fell on the ground, she continued hurting her new born daughter who was barely breathing suffering serious injuries. The police responded to a 911 call made by a neighbor who was at the scene and saw the whole situation. He even saved the children from the attacks of the mother after the fall.

Jarrell now faces multiple charges including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault, two counts of reckless endangerment and acting in a manner dangerous to a child younger than 17.

“She grabbed hold of the two kids and proceeded to hurt them more,” Carl, the neighbor who saw the incident told New York Post.

“She had the baby in her grip, and I had to take the baby out of her grip and hold her until the police and paramedics came,” he added. “As she was trying to hurt her children, and I was getting them out of her grip, she kind of thanked me and told me to take care of them.”

Carl added that Jarrell said to him she was “tired of being by herself” and that she can’t stand it anymore. When Carl took the children out of her reach, she asked him to take care of them. Jarrell’s siter in law was devastated by the incident. Her neighbors were still rattled by the news even days later.

“But it’s very difficult to tell what someone state of mind is, especially when they have two young kids,” one neighbor said.
